Enhanced low-level discovery capabilities
Low-level discovery rules are even more capable in Zabbix v7.4, allowing for automated creation of hierarchical structures in Zabbix.
Hierarchical discovery rules using discovery prototypes
Low-level discovery rules can now be created using low-level discovery rules, allowing the automated creation of hierarchical resources within Zabbix. This works using the new discovery prototype, which can automatically create new discovery rules, allowing for unlimited levels of nesting.
Automate hierarchical host creation with nested host prototypes
Zabbix now supports nested host prototypes, allowing you to create host prototypes on hosts that are also discovered by a low-level discovery rule. This can be used to, for example, discover virtual machines on hypervisors, which are discovered themselves.
New host wizard for more intuitive configuration
The new host wizard makes it easier than ever to manage hosts in Zabbix. It will guide you through the process of creating new hosts and configuring templates on existing hosts. Manual host creation remains available, but the host wizard can guide you through all necessary steps, leading to a more intuitive user experience.
General improvements to dashboards
- New item card widget shows detailed information about a Zabbix item
- Widget configuration changes are now immediately shown in the widget preview, without saving
- Graphs color scheme can now be selected from a configured color palette
- Default dashboard “Global view” has been updated
Improved Zabbix network maps
- Labels for map links and elements can now be hidden and only shown on hover
- Map background images can now be scaled proportionally to the map dimensions
- Map links can now display indicators based on individual item value thresholds
- When placing elements on top of another, their display order can now be changed
- Nested host groups will now be taken into account when displaying host group information
Other improvements
- Inline input field validation in the frontend, instantly show warnings for invalid field inputs
- Users can now configure their alerts / notifications in the Zabbix frontend by default
- Users can now manage their own usermedia by default
